Mr. Jones, I can see you asking the descendant of the freed Blacks who went back to Africa and founder Liberia an any Black American who want to become Americo-Liberian to go reclaim the country and that heritage. But to ask all Black American to leave their country after what our forefather and we has been through and all what we have accomplish and is going to accomplish to go back to Africa and help the Americo-Liberian rebuilt their country. Under the premise that Liberia is Blacks American homeland. I don’t think so. The continent of Africa is the Motherland to all black people an the United States of America is the homeland of Black American. Mr. Jones if you want to be a citizen of Liberia that your chose, but don’t try to make all Black American , Americo-

RE to : Charles L Jones "A LETTER TO AMERICA, MAINLY BLACK AMERICA"

www.voicenewspaper.com Op-Ed

Mr. Jones family know roots to Africa is with the freed Blacks from America who settle on a little tiny spot on the Africa continent now know as Liberia. I am very happy and proud that Mr. Jones has found a part of his ancestral roots to Africa even though they are not the African brought here in chains. I which I could find my Africa roots, other that been Black skin and having kinky hair. But the mass majority of Black American don't have that connection. Because we do not no what part of Africa our ancestor in chains came from and had no family to return.

Back 185 years ago the Blacks people that was in bondage try to convince the freed Black not to go to Africa. To stay with them and fight for freedom, justice and citizenship in America. A country that was built out of the evil an mistreatment of Black Slaves. Some of the freed blacks went on to Africa and form Liberia and call themselves Americo-Liberian. The Blacks Slaves who chose not to go back to Africa even after slavery was outlaw and the civil war was over, fought a long and deadly battles so we their descendant could have freedom, liberty, justice, citizenship and be proud to be Black American. Why would we give that up to go back to Africa.
