Building on Success (cincinnati.com)

Wilson Willard, a charter school superintendent, is expanding his Over-the-Rhine school into a charter district. The four new schools planned for fall are:
The Veritas Academy: A gifted program located in College Hill at Grace Episcopal Church, providing each student with an individualized education. The curriculum includes Latin and Greek, Junior Great Books, chess and fencing. Within that school is the Cesar Chavez Academy, a school for English-as-a second-language gifted students.
Salubrious Life Center: A school in the LeBlond Boys and Girls Club in Over-the-Rhine where morbidly obese children and students with other health disabilities can have their physical, emotional, educational and psychological needs met in a safe and loving environment surrounded by medical professionals.
The Cincinnati Speech and Reading Intervention Center: A program inside the River of Life Church on Central Parkway for students who are reading-disabled or have speech impairments. The school will offer intensive small-group instruction, and students will receive daily speech services from a certified specialist.
The Leadership Center: A school in the current W.E.B. DuBois building on Central Parkway where children who have failed a grade receive extra instruction so they can be placed in their proper grade level. The center will offer an elementary night school program so parents who work second shift can leave their children in a constructive learning environment. (more…)
