Father? Who needs a father?
From: seattletimes.com
BOSTON  The governor’s office has instructed hospitals to cross out the word “father” on birth certificates for children of same-sex parents and substitute “second parent,” angering municipal clerks.
Eric Fehrnstrom, a spokesman for Gov. Mitt Romney, said the certificates are legal.
But municipal clerks, who register and store birth records, said the cross-outs could leave the documents open to challenges by passport agents, foreign governments and other officials.
“They should not have a birth certificate that has crosses on it,” said Barnstable Town Clerk Linda Hutchenrider, a past president of the Massachusetts Town Clerks Association. “They should be allowed to have a birth certificate that really looks valid.” (more…)

I came across this story today and to be honest with you, I wanted to just pass over it because I had just did a piece entitled “Homosexuals and the black church” that is still generating comments. I decided to mention this story for two reasons: 1. As a people, we do not talk about this topic enough, 2. eliminating the term “father” is the worst thing for the black community.
If it is the goal of homosexual activists to bring confusion into the life of a child, this is a great way to do it. As I have mentioned in the past, what a person does in the privacy of their own home is their prerogative. However, eliminating “father” from the vocabulary of a child is way out of bounds.
The hypocritical thing about the gay activist movement (again, this movement does not speak for all homosexuals) is that they will tell the world to stop forcing its values on them. These same individuals will then turn right around and force their “values” (which minimizes the role of a father) on their children who inevitably want to understand the male contribution to their existance.
Again, please do not loose sight on the basis of this ongoing debate: sexual preference–that’s it.
Now, am I suggesting here that all children of homosexual parents will inevitably grow up to be deranged individuals? No. What I am trying to shed some light on is this growing trend to minimize the role and importance of men in the family and society as a whole. This disturbing message is preached to our young children everyday starting with many of the cartoons they watch. Most popular cartoons today depict men as being weak, ignorant, and with no sense of direction without the aid of a woman (Proud Family, Jimmy Neutron[his dad], The “fairly” Odd Parents, Kim Possible, and others). In many public schools throughout the US, teachers interpret any sign of male aggressiveness as a case for Ritalin (which has a proven track record of transforming any young man to a docile individual).
This message is also preached to men well into adulthood. We are told by the media that unless we know how to color coordinate like a woman (how we dress and where we live), we are nothing more than brutes and ogres that know nothing about loving a woman.
Is there a war against manhood in this country? You better believe it. The black community especially, cannot afford to fight in this war.

Duane,
Just want to get a clarification. Do you disagree with Rommey’s action to cross out father on the BC or do you agree it should say “second parent”?

Father should stay on the BC!
