Hypothyroidism

“More than 10 million Americans have been diagnosed with thyroid disease, and another 13 million people are estimated to have undiagnosed thyroid problems. About 10 percent of the adult population is afflicted with this frequently overlooked disease of epidemic proportion. A dysfunctional thyroid can affect almost every aspect of health. Storms Vary With Cycles, Experts Say (NY Times)

August 30th, 2005 | No Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

Missing: African-American missionaries

August 29th, 2005 | 8 Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

In many circles in the black community, when the word “missionary” pops up, it is the image of super-religious white folks mandating to African natives that in order for them to “saved”, they must dress and talk like Europeans. In addition to these cruel mandates, images of deadly diseases with origins from European countries being intentionally spread throughout the indigenous tribes of Africa is also one of the first things that come to mind. As true as this may have been in some cases,

Three years ago I was saved. Some people think getting saved means being in church, jumping around, and catching the Holy Ghost. August 28th, 2005 | No Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

To begin with, the history of black superheroes is not easily assembled since early on, much of the work was not reported on. As I mentioned in the last piece of the series, the Communist movement here in the US was having a very hard time trying to sell blacks on the concept of self-determination. The lack of African-American baseball players: A more complete explanation

August 25th, 2005 | 7 Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

For the past few months I have been reading article after article that once again discusses the disparity (there’s that word again) of African-Americans that play baseball on the professional level.
