Hmmm. Isn’t that *your* usual tactic?!

Pulling out my hair at this point---

I guess if I was to pass gas, you would see that as a tatic too!

sheesh!

"Brah, puhleeze stop tryin’ to find “the loophole” for the sake of argument, dawg."

Hmmm. Isn't that *your* usual tactic?!

Another problem that plays a role is that "Africans tend to gravitate towards whites, thereby incensing Blacks.

A friend that earned his doctorate in some branch of theology about 3 weeks ago, and went to Indiana, I believe, to participate in the graduation ceremony, related that there were many, many international students in attendance and all greeted him warmly...except for the African students.

However, I have several co-workers from Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, and some Carribbean countries who are pretty cool.

One of my uncles in Detroit related how back in the early '60's, when Lansing was still segregated, that "a group of Africans petitioned the City to be allowed to shop in 'whites only ' stores because...they were not Negroes. And the City agreed.

Hence, there are many problems with interactions between some Africans and some Blacks. All the blame cannot be laid at the feet of African Americans.

John, john, John,John, john, John, JOHN!!!

Brah, puhleeze stop tryin' to find "the loophole" for the sake of argument, dawg.

The brutha didn't say that American black folks were not over there, he just simply said he didn't see any. With roughly 300 full time black American missionaries (according to that excerpt provided above), I'm sure he didn't see any of US over there either.

I even provided a link to an African-American missionary organization that are sending folks over there.

"I see German, Australian, Korean, British, Japanese, and American white doctors, nurses, and dentists here. I don’t see daughters and sons of Africa serving Africa. "

This is NOT true. My sister's church in Atlanta, and others, have been providing medical care (members who are professionals) in Kenya.

In fact, they just got back a week ago from Kenya, where she sent a postcard to me.

My one problem with this is that its says for us to forget our culture and do missionary work, when if we had a true sense of our culture originally there would be more of us fighting to take control of our lives. Its not that the intentions of those who did was wrong its that we did it under the wrong guise which I feel is a direct result of its down fall. Also a lot of the efforts you spoke about in the breaking down of the missions seemed to be aimed at stopping us from becoming closer to our families of the Diaspora. No this is not another complaint by an arrogant negro in america but I feel that because we have settled for a culture devoid of even our own positvie images we have failed our people abroad. Shame on any African American who turns a nose up at Africa and settles for what goes on in the "hood". We have a connection there which a lot of us don't acknowledge because I feel we have been "white washed" to even our own people and believe it or not the efforts to revive Africa are not highly publicized in our churches further wounding these efforts from taking root. Ignorance will be our death here and in the motherland if we do not continue to remain conscious and work toward giving all that we can to our original place of birth.
