As I predicted the other day regarding the racist depiction of Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele by a black blogger, the general response from the black community was minuscule in comparison to recent incidents of “racism” like the stamps issued in Mexico, William Bennett’s comments regarding crime and black Americans, or the Federal government’s response time to hurricane Katrina victims. The common denominator with all three of these examples is that the “culprit” in all cases were non-black. When More »

Growing up, I remember seeing the young albino children at my school huddled in their own classrooms and going on their own field trips. Because we were never give the opportunity to interact with that class, it always left plenty of room for speculation inside my very imaginative mind. To this day, I still hate how my school system segmented us. None of my teachers ever even explained to us what Albinism was. More »
WILD to air new African-American talk-radio network
By Clea Simon, Globe Correspondent | October 29, 2005
QUINCY — Two powerhouses of urban radio are teaming up to launch an African-American-centered talk-radio network, the cornerstone of which will be programming hosted by the Rev. Al Sharpton.
Baltimore-based Radio One, the nation’s seventh-largest radio company, and Reach Media, which owns and syndicates the highly successful ”Tom Joyner Morning Show,” aim to roll out the network after the first of the year. Radio One owns a controlling interest in Reach Media. (more…)
Q: Why do you keep certain postings up longer than others?
A: I do this for one of two reasons–either its because I could not find anything to post under that topic for the day, or (what is the reason about 97% of the time) its because I feel that it is a topic of the utmost importance and I simply cannot bury the issue with other news and issues. Just recently I read that the average American spends roughly 8 hours a day consuming some type of media. It is in this environment that important issues that need closer inspection by the we the public have been reduced to slight impulses that have been packaged to target our emotions more than our brain. Issues that may require days or even weeks to comprehend and fully understand are today being pushed into clips where emotionally-based opinions are being formed everyday. In my own way I hope to counter this unfortunate trend in this corner of cyberspace.

Q: Do you do book reviews?
A: Sure. Just mail your book to the address listed above.
Q: What are your views on public education?
A: For starters, nowhere in the US Constitution is there an allocation for our tax dollars to fund such an entity. I see public education as just a benefit of living in this country, and like all benefits they can easily be taken away as long as they are not guaranteed.
On the other hand, with a country as rich as the United States, there should be no reason why children of all races should have access to the same level of education that at one time in our history was unmatched by any country in the world.
What I am against are politicians, activists, and teacher unions who use poor kids as a prop to convince hard working taxpayers to continue to dump millions of dollars year after year into a system that has a well documented history of producing sub-standard results. Public schools that have a proven track record of successfully preparing our children for college should continue to exist. On the other hand, schools that have proven that they are nothing more than a taxpayer’s nightmare due to poor management and administration should be closed immediately.
Unfortunately, there has not been enough attention on the sliding trend of public school systems on the part of black American Media and politicians. Many of these entities and individuals have historical ties to teacher unions so they would not dare inform black Americans the other side of story that tells us why many of OUR schools have gone under funded for years. This is why I have chosen to dedicate a column on this site called “The Education Report“. Here you will read all the latest headlines and commentaries from all over the nation that prove my point that black Americans have not been given the whole story when it comes to the public school system.
People should have the right to educate their children as they see fit. That means home schooling and private schools should be available options for any parent who wants to increase the chances of life success for their child.
Other faq’s forthcoming…
On a once a week basis, I will dedicate one posting a week to provide you with a listing of some of the black-owned businesses and organizations around the country. Come Monday, I will provide you with an interesting overview of my trip to the Los Angeles Black Business Expo.

About the Book
The United Nations has seen more scrutiny and faced more pressure for reform under Secretary-General Kofi Annan than under any of his predecessors. Its agenda for transformation, according to Mark Malloch Brown, his Chief of Staff, is planned to take it from a conference-organizing, report-writing Organization, to one equipped to undertake large, complex, global missions- from peacekeeping and peacebuilding in post-conflict societies to humanitarian relief, recovery and rehabilitation following disasters. Some of my random thoughts:
The billboard for Curtis Jackson’s (That’s his name, and that’s how he will be addressed here) latest movie about his life entitled “Get Rich or Die Tryin†has caused quite a stir out here in Southern California. The one big point that I immediately noticed was how MSM has not mentioned the race of the activists. If these activists had been white, MSM would not have any problem mentioning that fact. Why? Because they know that would sell. Black folks dealing with their own dirty laundry doesn’t–plain and simple. The sad thing is, even some black publications are following suit by not mentioning this story. If the activists were white—FRONT PAGE–and folks from all over would rush to his defense against white aggression. More »

About:
The Sphinx Organization is a national non-profit founded in 1996 by Aaron P. Dworkin. Aaron started playing violin at age 5, finished high school at Interlochen, and went on to complete his B.M. and M.M. in violin performance at the University of Michigan. During his music education, he often found himself in orchestras where he was either the only minority or one of only a handful. Aaron founded Sphinx to help change this situation, to overcome the cultural stereotype of classical music, and to address the isolation and limited access that young Blacks and Latinos face in the classical music world. With the help of the Sphinx Organization, young African-American and Latino youths gain an appreciation for classical music and the classical music profession. (more…, homepage) More »
