Like many of you, I was pissed to hear about the idiots in Australia that are attacking people of middle eastern decent out of blatant racism. At the time of this writing, I have spent about the last 30-40 minutes trying to understand the history behind this recent incident. Here are a couple of things that I was able to find on the net so far…

Gangs turn Cronulla beach into war zone

NICOLLE Dunk has been swimming at Cronulla since she was a toddler, but now the 17-year-old refuses to go to her favourite beach alone.

She has been harassed and assaulted by thugs of Middle Eastern descent who come to The Shire to threaten and intimidate.

“They kick sand into your face and scream the most disgusting abuse for no reason at all. A lot of locals are too scared to surf down here any more,” she told The Daily Telegraph yesterday.

As police played down a culture of gang violence at one of Sydney’s best known beaches in the wake of the bashing of three North Cronulla lifesavers last Sunday, locals told a different story.

Ms Dunk, along with friends Leiden Kronemberger and Dean Apostolidis, both 16, said yesterday the gangs had disappeared after the bashing but would return when publicity died down.

Others described the abuse of a pregnant woman because she was taking up room on a stair way to the beach as one of the most shocking recent incidents at the beach.

The father of a 16-year-old girl said she had been too afraid to return to the beach after she and two friends were asked if they were virgins by a group of men.

When she failed to respond the gang told her she would be carried off the beach and it was only when she spotted a friend nearby that the two girls were able to escape.

Locals said the behaviour of aggressive groups of youths of Middle Eastern descent had become progressively worse in recent years.

“I am not racist against their ethnicity, I am reacting to their behaviour,” one surf life saving source said. (more…)

These people carrying on in such a manner are sick twisted individuals. They have no respect for women except their own kind. Anglo Saxon girls are thought of as being cheap and easy. They wouldn’t think twice about doing such acts to their own female folk.

It is sad to say, but this behaviour stems from their parents. From an early age they are taught by their parents that so called ‘Australian’ girls are sluts and that the only girls worthy of respect are the arab muslim girls.

Not only that, but they have so much rage in them. I regularly play oztag and let me tell you that all the fights that start involve the Lebanese players. It is absolutely disgusting when you witness such thuggery taking place.

It is about time drastic measures are taken to put an end to these idiots once and for all, because i like other muslims, am sick of being tarnished with all this crap once it happens. The Lebanese community has suffered immensely because of these misguided youth and it is about time they restored their reputation. Like Kareem said, when you let uneducated villagers into the country this is often the result.

Cronulla (the beach area where the lifeguards were beaten) needs the same thing in my opinion. Grab all these hoodlums and fix em up, embarress them as most muslims as bad as they are, would not act this way infront of religous authority, which is ironic since if they were so concious religously they wouldnt act like that in the first place.

It is disgusting and terrible. I am lebanese and my sister has never been abused by an anglo but been abused by lebs plenty of times.

I ask those of influence in cronulla to remain calm and let the full force of the law deal with these guys accordingly.

I cant believe how rotten some individuals can be. Religon aside, this is just basic human courtesy that these guys lack.

Now if you are thinking at this moment that I am justifying the racist actions by these white supremest groups, think again. All of them need to be hung by their you know what! No justification for it whatsoever regardless of who it doing it.

Based on my readings on both sides of this issue, many Australians of various backgrounds blame the media for blowing this recent outburst way out of proportion. From what I am gathering, there is enough racism going on in that country to go around.

This tells me two things if this figure is true:

#Folks who are making this into a war between Islam vs. white Australians need to do more investigation (I’ve heard several Conservatives make this claim within the last week or so)

#How far the media will justify racial generalizations based on race.

Let’s face it, mainstream media sucks when it comes to covering these types of issues. I prefer to listen to the people who are in the trenches versus the idiots who want to colorize a story for the sake of increased readership.

If you either currently live in Australia, used to live in Australia and have more insight to add to this posting, please do so. The more information we can gather about this situation, the better the rest of us can understand this situation.

##As for the racism that is targeted towards the Aboriginal community, that is something else.
