Overview
The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC) and the City of Paris, in
collaboration with the Cultural Services Department at the French
Embassy in New York, are partnering once again to provide New York
City artists with the opportunity to live and work at the Cité
Internationale des Arts in Paris, France. LMCC is currently inviting
artists to submit applications for this special residency. One artist
will be selected to be in residence from July to December 2006.
The City of Paris will provide each artist with live/work space and a
monthly stipend of 1,296 Euros (approximately $1,549), the resident
must pay a rent of 287 Euros (approximately $343) per month. Studios
measure 20 x40 sq. meters and include a kitchenette, bathroom, linens.
Access is available to printmaking, photographic, and ceramics
facilities, as well as to exhibition spaces within the Cité
Internationale des Arts. A weekly French language course is also
offered at no cost. A security deposit of 287 Euros will be required
of each resident and returned after check-out of studio.
Eligibility
Emerging and mid-career American artists who are US citizens or US
permanent residents and New York City residents. Fields: visual arts,
photography, film/video, multimedia.
Selection Process & Notification
LMCC staff and advisors from the Cultural Services of the French
Embassy will select and forward 10 proposals to the City of Paris.

of Paris around late March 2006.
Application Guidelines
STEP 1: Complete online application. Access online application
STEP 2: Please mail the following materials:
1. Contact information.
Even though you’ve already registered online, please give us
your full name, mailing address, phone, email address as it appeared
in Step 1.
2. Resumé.
3. Visual/audio submission.
Please submit ONE of the following formats. Remember to label
all materials with your name.
• Six (6) digital images on CD: For visual arts and photography,
please send us digital images. Save images as .JPEG. Resolution
should be set at 72 pixel/inch. Images should be no larger than 800
pixels x 800 pixels. Please label each image as “your last name_your
first name_#” (ex. Smith_John_1.jpg, Smith_John_2.jpg, etc.). Images
will be projected from a Mac computer.
• DVD: For time-based media, video, or film, please send us a
DVD. Total viewing time should not exceed 3 minutes. Videos will be
projected from a Mac computer.
• Audio CD: For sound work, send us an audio CD. Total running
time should not exceed 3 minutes.
4. Inventory.
Please include the following information, according to the
format of your visual material:
• for digital images: provide image list (with title, medium,
dimension for each image) with a 1-2 sentence description for each
image.
• for DVD: provide instructions for navigating DVD menus. Also
provide title, total running time, original format/medium (film,
video, etc.), with a 1-2 sentence description.
• for audio CD: Provide track number(s), title, total running
time, medium, with a 1-2 sentence description.
5. SASE.
A Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope (SASE) with adequate U.S.
postage for return of materials. STAMPS ONLY. DO NOT USE METERED
POSTAGE OR FOREIGN PRE-PAID POSTAGE. Visual/audio materials will be
returned if a SASE is enclosed. If you do not enclose a SASE with
your application, we will assume you do not want your materials
returned.

loss of submitted materials.
