The bamboozlement of black Americans on school choice
Here is part of a transcript from a recent event where she lashes out against the idea of school vouchers:
CLINTON: Suppose that you were meeting today to decide who got the vouchers. First parent comes and says ‘I want to send my daughter to St. Peter’s Roman Catholic School’ and you say ‘Great, wonderful school, here’s your voucher. Next parent who comes says, ‘I want to send, you know, my child to the Jewish Day School. Great here’s your voucher! Next parent who comes says, “I want to send my child to the private school that I’ve already dreamed of sending my child to.’ Fine. Here’s your voucher.
Next parent who comes says, ‘I want to send my child to the school of the Church of the White Supremacist.’ You say, ‘Wait a minute. You can’t send…we’re not giving a voucher for that.’ And the parent says, ‘Well, the way that I read Genesis, Cain was marked, therefore I believe in white supremacy. And therefore, you gave it to a Catholic parent, you gave it to a Jewish parent, gave it to a secular private parent. Under the Constitution, you can’t discriminate against me.’
Suppose the next parent comes and says ‘I want to send my child to the School of…the Jihad.’ Wait a minute! We’re not going to send a child with taxpayers dollars to the School of Jihad. ‘Well, you gave it to the Catholics, gave it to the Jews, gave it to the private secular people. You’re gonna tell me I can’t? I’m a taxpayer. Under the Constitution.’
Now, tell me how we’re going to make those choices. (Hat tip: Michelle Malkin)
The government should not be making those choices in the first place. That should be a decision left up to parents.
You might think the people who fight for public schools would always send their children to those public schools, but that’s not the case, explained Stossel. As an example, he cited Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY), who has called public education the “cornerstone of our democracy.” Her husband, former President Bill Clinton, also declared he was “unalterably opposed to a voucher system to give people public money to take to private schools.”
But many politicians oppose the idea of letting education dollars follow the child to whatever school their parents choose. These anti-voucher politicians, noted Stossel, include U.S. Senators Lincoln Chaffee (R-RI) and Edward Kennedy (D-MA) and Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-IL), all of whom have chosen private schools for their own children. (more…)
Then there are the public school teachers themselves (source):
To find the best restaurants, ask chefs where they dine. To find the best schools, ask teachers where they send their children. A study from the Thomas B. Fordham Foundation does just that. Using 2000 Census Bureau data, study authors find that on average, urban public school teachers send their children to private schools at a rate nearly double the national average, 22 percent compared to 12 percent. The complete study, Where Do Public School Teachers Send Their Kids to School?, is available online at www.edexcellence.net./foundation/publication/publication.cfm?id=333
But what really pisses me off about this whole issue that it reveals the lock-step operation of our own black news media. While our media will waste no time exploiting the fact that Bush enjoyed certain privileges as a child that “poor black folks” didn’t have, they will conveniently omit the fact that many politicians who share their own beliefs and many public school teachers send their own kids to private schools WHILE MANY OF OUR OWN CHILDREN ARE SUBJECTED TO A SUB-STANDARD EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM.
Here’s a hint: With a little time, you can easily find out what politicians regularly echo the message of organizations who have a vested interest to see school choice not an option for our kids: The NEA. Check out Project Vote Smart.

Well, in the South they started private schools to usurp Brown vs. Board of Education, so those schools certainly should “not” be allowed to get government vouchers to prop up their segregationist agenda.
