Dumb political plays of the week

>From the Republican camp:

A national black Republican group is running a radio advertisement accusing Democrats of starting the Ku Klux Klan and saying the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was a Republican, a claim challenged by civil-rights researchers…

…The spot begins with one woman telling another, “Dr. King was a real man. You know he was a Republican.”

…In the ad, the woman goes on to say, “Democrats passed those black codes and Jim Crow laws. Democrats started the Ku Klux Klan.” Her companion replies, “The Klan? White hoods and sheets?” (more…)

Democrats were wrong to go here in the last elections and were called out for it.  Apparently some Republicans didn’t get the memo. Fortunately Steele distanced himself from this mess.

>From the Democrat camp:

He’s our nig—, not yours

“I want to express my extreme displeasure with statements by the President of Venezuela attacking U.S. President George Bush in such a personal and disparaging way during his remarks at the United Nations General Assembly.” ~Congressman Charles Rangel on Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez’ remarks on President Bush

“Hugo Chavez fancies himself a modern day Simon Bolivar but all he is an everyday thug,” House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi said at a news conference, referring to Chavez’ comments in a U.N. General Assembly speech on Wednesday.~Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi also on Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez’ remarks on Presiden Bush.

Now let me get this straight–Democrats can call Bush ERRRRRVYTHING under the sun, the moon and stars (racist, thug, warmonger, liar, crook, thief). But as soon as someone comes to this country and uses the same tone, all of a sudden it becomes an outrage?

Just forget it y’all. I think I feel a migraine coming
