This is a bunch of crap. Whatever happened to personal accountability? If they were not able to test in how do you think they will be able to handle to work once they get in. This is one of the dumbest things I have heard on in a long time. Good going civil rights leaders.

How will we ever know how much a child can flourish if we never give them the chance to.

Great point. These children will never flourish as long as we continue telling them that unlike Whites, their skin color has eliminated their ability to study hard and get good grades. Another way to see these kids flourish is to have high expectations for them like we do for White and Asian children.

How will we ever know how much a child can flourish if we never give them the chance to. Many of the children rejected by the previous standards were tested on what they currently know and not what they can be capable of. These children need to be given the opportunity to develop mentally and socially, so by removing these prerequisites we are giving all of the applicants a better chance at a brighter tomorrow.

At an April 12 meeting with civil rights leaders, Superintendent Kari McVeigh extended the deadline 13 days to tomorrow and decided to stop considering applicants’ test scores, grades, writing samples and extracurricular activities in determining who is accepted. Instead, the granting of permits will be on a random basis.

In the words of GWB: The soft bigotry of low expectations.

Why not help the black and latino kids get better test scores and writing samples rather than getting rid of the requirements.

The reason that a lot of schools are prestigious is because the only take the smart people. If we get rid of those requirements, they would just be regular schools.
