(philly.com) A stabbing and a shooting yesterday in West Philadelphia brought the year’s homicide total to 305.
Shortly before 2 p.m., authorities were called to 59th and Race Streets, where they found Dashon Black, 19, of West Philadelphia, shot in the head and chest inside a residence.
Black was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was pronounced dead at 2:02 p.m., police said.
No arrest had been made as of this morning, police said.
Police did, however, arrest a man they say fatally stabbed his brother in their West Philadelphia home early yesterday.
Eugene Lewis, 48, of the 5800 block of Osage Avenue, had two stab wounds to the stomach when he was found by his nephew about 3:40 a.m., police said. Lewis was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was pronounced dead about 7 a.m. (more…)
